That day I behaved like a good artist, one whose job is to build rather than break.

About This Quote

In the film, The Artist , actor Jean Dujardin plays the titular character. In the film's opening credits, Dujardin's character tells his story. He explains that he wrote this story on a piece of paper, then burned it to show that he was not intimidated by anyone. He continues by saying that anyone who is worthy of being an artist is someone who will not be deterred by others.

Dujardin says that he will create whatever he wants until told otherwise. He ends his explanation with the word "me." As he says these words, the camera pans across the top of his head to show his face. The camera zooms out until we see it is him on the screen, staring back at us.
